Sabino "Dickie" Richard Casieri, 92

MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  Sabino "Dickie" Richard Casieri, age 92, of Middleborough, died on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleborough.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Michael & Fontaine Maria Casieri.  Dickie grew up and attended public schools in Brockton; he was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1950, and played the trumpet in the high school band.  After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force, and was stationed for three years at the RAF Bentwaters located northeast of London, England.  He continued his training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and attended radar school at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.  He also served as a firefighter in England.  
 
Dickie worked a dedicated career as a Highway Surveyor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 32 years and retired in 1992.  He was very talented with carpentry which he learned from his father, and had a remarkable skill of building and fixing things.  Dickie built a second home in the White Mountains in New Hampshire, with his son Rick.  Dickie loved the outdoors and the mountains; he was very active with hiking, mountain climbing and skiing, which he did up until his late 80's!  He loved to ski and would ski often at Waterville Valley in New Hampshire with his son Rick as well as at Cannon Mountain and Sugar Hill.
 
He enjoyed the trips of going back and forth from Middleborough to New Hampshire with his wife, Carol.  Dickie was a Catholic, and a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Middleborough.  He was a devoted family man; he dedicated himself to his family and he was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He will be missed.
 
Sabino was the beloved husband for 63 years to Carol (Libby) Casieri; loving father of Rick Casieri & his wife Lynne of Middleborough, Lisa Ann Casieri & her partner Clint Gurley of Stoughton and the late Paul Casieri; devoted grandfather of William Ryan Garland and the late Ryan G. Casieri; dear brother of Constance Michaels of Pembroke and the late Joseph Casieri.
 
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
 
All are invited to the funeral service at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:30 AM.
 
Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
