Roger Stewart Hamilton, 79

Roger Stewart Hamilton, 79, went home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by family following a brief illness. Roger was born in Middleboro, Mass., the son of Harry W. and Lillian R. Hamilton. He is survived by Brenda (Gagnon) Hamilton with whom he was married for 60 years, sister Norma (Hamilton) Roby, sons Andrew S. Hamilton (Laura) and Douglas A. Hamilton (Dina), and daughter Jennifer (Hamilton) Wright (Lawrence), grandchildren Alyssa Hamilton (Nicholas), Melanee (Hamilton) Rizk (James), Alee (Wright) Wiegand (Chad), Trevor Wright (Nicole), and three great-grandchildren Truett Wiegand, Tristan Wright, and Lillian Sophia Rizk. Roger is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family whom he loved.

Roger was a member of the first graduating class (1960) from Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville. A lifelong resident of Lakeville, Roger dedicated his life to public service retiring as the Lakeville Highway Superintendent following 31 years. Roger also served more than 30 years on the Lakeville Fire Department as a call firefighter, Captain, and Chief Fire engineer.

He was a longtime active member of Cornerstone Community Church for whom he served as a trustee for many years. Roger was a member of the Massachusetts Highway Association, and a past member of the Lakeville Fireman’s Association.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the excellent care and compassion given by the ICU staff and respiratory staff of Southcoast Hospital in New Bedford. A celebration of Roger’s life will be held in the early spring of 2023. The date and time will be announced later. Arrangements by:
