Roger "Butch" Wainwright

On March 26, 2024 Roger "Butch" Wainwright passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer.  

He was the son of the late Violet M. (Schwartz) and James W. Wainwright.  Butch is survived by his sisters:  Sue Bennett and her husband, John of Middleboro, Norma Quagan and her husband, Donny of Lakeville; his brothers:  Russell Wainwright of Maine and David Wainwright of Carver.  He is pre-deceased by several sisters and brothers:  Charles Naas, Oliver LeTourneau, Leroy LeTourneau, James Wainwright, Jr., Arnold Wainwright, Marie Covel, George Wainwright, Richard Wainwright, Joan Crocket, Walton "Skip" Wainwright and Sheryl Moquin.  Butch is also survived by his three sons whom he shared with his previous wife, Jessie Quinn Middleboro:  Roger "Butchie" Wainwright, Jr. of Middleboro (with the late Amy Roberio and the late Joanne Cranston) Christopher Wainwright with his spouse, Sharon of Middleboro, Adam Wainwright with his significant other, Karen Connors of Middleboro.  He is the beloved grandfather of Brittany Wainwright, Kyle Wainwright, Christopher M. Wainwright, Jr., Hailey Wainwright and the great-grandfather of Kaleb, Kane, Khaleesi and Khaleah Ferrier.  

Butch was a proud United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He will be remembered by many for riding his scooter around town or parking at the Middleboro VFW, scratching his tickets and hanging out with friends.  He was a very active member of the Middleboro VFW Post 2188 and was a past Post Commander.  Butch also held memberships at the Mitchell Memorial Club and the American Legion. 

Butch loved his family and friends.  That love was returned.  He will be missed. 

Military Honors will be rendered outdoors on April 13, 2024 (Saturday) at 11 AM at the Middleboro VFW, 12 Station Street.   A Celebration of Life will follow in the hall until 4 PM.
