EAST TAUNTON  -  Robert “Bob’’ A. Meunier, age 81, of East Taunton, died peacefully, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the VA Healthcare System in Brockton.

He was born January 27, 1942, in Central Falls, RI, to the late Arthur S. & Hazel (Smith) Meunier.  Robert proudly served in the US Navy for 20 years, working as a master electrician.  Prior to being honorably discharged, he received a letter of commendation, four good conduct awards, the National Defense Service medal, Naval Expeditionary medal, Armed Services Expeditionary medal, and the Admiral Flatley Memorial award.  During his time in the service, Robert was stationed on many ships including the aircraft carrier, the USS Essex and the USS Hydrofoil Pegasus.    Robert loved to travel, visiting many states, including Alaska and Hawaii, going to Scotland, Iceland and everywhere in-between!  He was a member of the Middleboro Elks Lodge #1274, the May Flower Lodge A.F. & A.M., and the Taunton Rifle & Pistol Club for over 40 years.  He was a good husband, great father, and the best grandfather.

For 55 years, Robert was the beloved husband to June (Stuart) Meunier; loving father of David Meunier and his wife Lori of Middleborough, Peter Meunier and his wife Heather of Taunton, and the late Matthew Meunier; dear brother of Sandra Vacca of Warwick, RI, Michael Meunier of Tennessee; cherished grandfather of Sadie, Autumn, Matthew, Maddison, and Andrew.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 3:00 – 6:30 PM, followed by a prayer service starting at 6:30 PM. 

Interment will be private.
