Richard A. "Papa" Gilli, 83

Richard A. "Papa" Gilli of Middleboro, died peacefully at home, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family on January 3, 2024. He was 83 years old.

He was born on June 25, 1940 in Middleboro, son of the late Anthony and Leah (Blouin) Gilli, he attended local schools. A veteran, Mr. Gilli served in the United States Marine Corps and was Honorably Discharged. He was a Mason by trade, but he also devoted 25 years to Belmont Springs as a Supervisor. In his "retirement," Mr. Gilli became a Shuttle Bus Driver for the Middleboro Council on Aging - which was the job he loved most of all. Never one to sit idle for long, Mr. Gilli was passionate about tending to his yard and home. He cherished time with his family and was always around to lend a hand. He is survived by his wife, Sheila E. (Dumas) Gilli. His daughters Cheryl Gilli and Brenda Gilli, and her husband, Terry Einstein all of Middleboro. A devoted grandfather to Rachel Dean and her fiancé, Ryan Pinto of New Bedford; Mark Reed and his wife, Maryssa of Middleboro; Jodi LeBel and her husband, Dominic of North Attleboro.

He was also the loving great-grandfather to Ali Pinto, Gavyn Pinto, Benjamin Reed, Paislee Hart, Connor Reed and Hailee Reed. He is also survived by his sister Sally Valler and her husband, Roger; along with his niece and nephew, Bonnie Contreras and Derek Christie all of Davenport, Florida.

There will be a private family interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
