Readers can share titles, friendships at Middleboro book clubs
MIDDLEBORO — The cooler weather tends to bring people indoors and for book lovers, curling up with a good book is a popular autumn activity. Middleboro Public Library offers a series of book clubs for reading enthusiasts.
Ellie and her Bookies, the library’s longest-running book club, was formed in 2010 and meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. No meetings are held in July, August and November. The club features a range of books, including fiction, non-fiction and biographies. For more information, email leader Ellie Osborne at buzzellie88@aol.com.
Readers who enjoy a good book that keeps them guessing and a great group of people to discuss it with might enjoy the mystery lovers book club. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month, except for November. For more information, email leader Ronnie Haywood at vhaywood689@gmail.com.
Two other area book clubs are not directly connected to the library, but book selections and book copies are available through the library.
Oak Point Book Club meets the last Monday of each month. This group of readers chooses selections from a wide range of book choices and are interested in many genres. To learn more about these meetings, email Gail Wershing at wershing@ptd.net.
The Middleboro Council on Aging Book Club meets at 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the Council on Aging. Anyone interested in attending is asked to call Kathy Medeiros at (508) 946-2490 or email her at kmedeiros@middleborough.ma.gov.
