Mitchell Allan White, 57, of Middleboro, Massachusetts

“You can’t do anything about the length of your life,
but you can do something about its width and depth.”
~Shira Tehrani

Anyone who knew Mitch knew he could always be counted on to be there if you needed him and also for telling the story-behind-the-story. “Actually,” was his preamble. His own story was filled with a deep love for his family and friends.

A cherished father, brother, and son, Mitchell Allan White, 57, of Middleboro, died on December 13, 2022, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He epitomized courage in his battles against cancer and heart disease, which he fought for many years. He is at peace now but already missed by those who loved him.

Mitch had a twinkle that could light up the room, and he did just that at his 57th birthday party at the beginning of December, where his family and friends celebrated him. He was surrounded by the love of his children, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A devoted dad, Mitch lived for his children, Haley, Christian, and Cameron White. His life revolved around them, and he loved celebrating their milestones and accomplishments, both large and small. You could always find him cheering them on in every area of their life, from sports and dance to school and work. His children were his biggest joy, and he could not have been prouder of them.

He is survived by his daughter Haley White and fiancé Ryan Gaunay of Smithtown, New York, his son Christian White and partner Gillian Burr of Middleboro, and his son Cameron White of Middleboro.

Mitch also leaves behind his stepfather Art Stinchfield and his siblings:Nancy Gamache of Somerset; Natalie White and husband Jeremy Crockford of Middleboro; John White Jr. and wife Carla White of Nashville, Tennessee; Susan (White) Chacey and husband Allan Chacey of Markham, Virginia; and Marlo White and husband Kevin Richman of Lakeville, Massachusetts. He drew pleasure and strength from his extended family, including aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins, especially Priscilla (Holmes) Anderson of Hanson. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his loving parents, Judith (Corey) (White) Stinchfield and John White Sr.

He lived at Small World Farm in Middleboro with his dog Copper, cat Mocha, and her kitten “The Bean.” He loved his animals and would be reassured to know his family shares that affection and will continue to spoil his pets with love.

Mitch worked with his friend Judy Alves organizing farm days for the crew at Road to Responsibility. They thought the world of Mitch. He loved his horses and was an accomplished horseman, showing both Western and English in his youth.

An avid reader, Mitch enjoyed losing himself in a science fiction story. Star Trek, Lost In Space, and Marvin the Martian spoke to him. He loved cribbage, rummy, and a long day of monopoly and had a special interest in collecting decorated eggs.

Born in Brockton, Mitch grew up in Middleboro. He graduated in 1984 from Middleboro High School, where he earned high academic honors. He cherished his friendships with his classmates. He attended Boston College and pursued a career in financial services. A world traveler, he visited several countries, including Canada, Russia, and Italy.

Mitch drew his life force from his family, but as anyone who spent any time with him knew, he also ran on Dunkin: Medium hot, French vanilla, two and two. Cheesecake and Apazidis breakfasts were both favorites. He hated beets but would eat almost any other dish, except for smorgasbord in the rubbish.

Nature restored him, and he spent hours walking with friends and Copper along the beach and the trails at Pratt Farm. He had an eye for spotting interesting rocks and a knack for finding four-leaf clovers.

In keeping with Mitchell’s wishes, no immediate services are planned, but a memorial bench will be placed at Pratt Farm, where family and friends can visit for years to come. A memorial service will be held in Spring 2023 when the bench will be dedicated in his honor. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his honor to a charity of your choice. Two of Mitch’s favorites were Road to Responsibility at roadtoresponsibilty.org and Amazing Grace Equine horse rescue at amazinggrace.com
