Mini golf brings putters of all ages to Lakeville Library

Apr 25, 2023

LAKEVILLE – Adults and children visited the Lakeville Public Library to putt through an 18-hole game of mini-golf, on Sunday, April 23.

Although this was hosted in Lakeville, the ladies overseeing this event noted that it was open to anyone who wanted to come. Each hole was unique, some more intricate than others.

“We love this library, and we love this activity,” said the mother of two mini golfers named Genevieve and Eliana. “It’s great for a rainy day. The girls loved playing as well.”

Virginia Murdoch and Evelyn Como shared many smiles and laughs throughout their trek through the course.

Most families expressed that mini golf is more of a summer activity when the weather gets warm enough to play on an outdoor course. Despite the fact that this course was indoors, their expressions showed enjoyment and satisfaction.

Every golf course has its own rules – and this was no exception. The flyer presented six key rules: keep one ball in play, keep your golf club low, take turns going first, elect a scorekeeper, hit your ball where it landed, and don’t putt more than six times at one hole.

The mission of the library is to act as a community center, offering a range of activities and services – such as informational, cultural, recreational, and most importantly, educational.

The library offers frequent sponsored events to keep the fun rolling. This year’s event was sponsored by a grant from the HCA Charitable Contributions Fund, administered by the Lakeville Select Board. A donation box was displayed in case people wanted to give money, but the mini golf event was not considered a fundraiser.

Additionally, this was supported by funds raised by the Friends of Lakeville Public Library.
