Middleboro man arrested after crystal meth, cocaine seized
MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro Police seized a significant amount of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine during a drug raid early Saturday, April 1 that led to the arrest of a Middleboro man, Police Chief Joseph Perkins reported.
Ruben Ricardo Da Silva, 27, of Middleboro was charged with trafficking class B methamphetamine in excess of 200 grams; trafficking class B cocaine in excess of 100 grams; possession of class B substance (Percocet) with intent to distribute; possession of class C substance (Xanax) with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
About 9 p.m. Friday, March 31, Middleboro officers went to a home on Summer Street to serve court documents, Perkins said. Upon arrival, officers called in detectives based on observations made at the home.
Police secured the scene, then sought a search warrant. Officers and detectives obtained and executed the search warrant at about 1 a.m. Saturday, April 1, Perkins reported.
Police recovered more than 600 grams of crystal methamphetamine, more than 100 grams of cocaine, Percocet and Xanax pills and a 9amm Sig Sauer pistol with a large-capacity feeding device, Perkins said.
The finding was disheartening for Perkins.
“I am disappointed to see this quantity and quality of crystal methamphetamine in Middleboro. I think it was wishful thinking on my part that Middleboro would avoid the scourge of meth that pockets of the country have experienced for years. I’m not sure that we will now.”
An occupant later identified as Da Silva Police was arrested and at the Middleboro Police Station. He is being held on $7,540 bail at the Plymouth House of Correction and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, April 3 in Wareham District Court.
“Our officers’ quick action upon arriving at the home were a major reason why we were able to make this arrest,’’ Perkins said. “Our detectives then acted quickly, and we were able to secure the needed search warrant. The teamwork is why we made the arrest and made a significant drug seizure.’’
