Middleboro home scares up a good Halloween display
MIDDLEBORO — Passersby beware, 134 Wareham St. in Middleboro may send shivers down your spine with its best-in-show Halloween decorations.
The Wareham Street home was crowned the winner of the fourth Annual Pumpkin Romp, a competition sponsored by The Heart in Art, a local art studio specializing in teaching art to children with disabilities in Lakeville.
Victoria O’Keefe and her son Gavin, who took home the winning prize, have been supporters of the Pumpkin Romp since its start in 2020, according to The Heart in Owner Melissa Oddi-Morrison.
Halloween is Gavin’s “favorite time of year,” said Oddi-Morrison.
“We are so happy voters voted his house number one,” she said.
Pumpkin Romp participants traveled around to see Halloween displays set up in front of homes and businesses around Middleboro and Lakeville and voted on which locations had the best decorations.
Participating locations were identified on maps available at Freitas Liquors throughout the month of October.
The winning display features all sorts of creepy creatures, from larger-than-life goblins, to skeletons and evil clowns.
Runner-up for best decorated Halloween home was Thomas Atchinson, of 18 Elm Street, and third place went to Dawn Savery, of 3 Coombs Street.
The following businesses and organizations also received awards for their Halloween setups: The Lakeville/Freetown Girls Scouts, Art on the Spot in Middleboro and La Bella Lash in Lakeville.
