Middleboro fire department responds to downtown structure fire
MIDDLEBORO – Part of Main Street in downtown Middleboro was shut down “for about an hour and a half,” Middleboro Fire Chief Owen Thompson said, because of a structure fire on 15 South Main Street.
The Fire department was notified of the fire at 11:17 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
No one was hurt during the fire, Thompson said. “Nobody was home in that particular unit at the time. Occupants from the other units within the building were able to escape without harm.”
The Middleboro Police Department blocked off a small part of Main Street as the fire department responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is “still undetermined,” Thompson added. The fire was burning inside the wall of the first floor of the building.
“This was our fourth structure fire in nine days,” Thompson said. “We’ve been very busy in the last week and a half.”
