Middleboro artist featured at Lakeville Library gallery in June, July
LAKEVILLE — Bob Weikel of Middleboro will be the featured artist for the months of June and July at the Great Ponds Gallery at the Lakeville Library, 4 Precinct St.
This exhibit will focus on his scratchboard artwork.
Scratchboard is a form of direct engraving on a board coated with India Ink wherein the artist uses sharp knives and tools to scratch off dark ink to reveal a white layer beneath. Scratchboard can be used to yield highly detailed, precise and even textured artwork.
These works can be left black and white or color may be added with colored India Ink. He will be exhibiting more than 30 pieces of artwork on scratchboard.
An artist reception will be held on Thursday, June 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Great Ponds Gallery and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Weikel will also be at the gallery on Saturday, June 8 from noon to 2 p.m.
The show can be viewed anytime in June and July during normal library hours: Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. The library is closed Friday and Sunday.
