Marjorie Ann (DeYoung) Dakers of Middleboro died at home peacefully in her sleep on January 23,2025 after a long illness. She was 79.

She was born October 17, 1945 in Medford, the daughter of John A. and Marjorie E. DeYoung (Sherman) of Winchester.

She was raised in Winchester and was a graduate of Chandler School for Women.

Marjorie worked for the Polaroid Corporation as a patent researcher and model. After staying home as a wife and mother she was employed as an executive secretary at Ocean Spray Cranberries Cooperative. She spent nine years with Mentor employed as an Assistance Living Specialist working with brain injured adults and helping them with resocializing.

Later in life she owned, trained and raced Standardbred horses in the Harness Horse industry and brought them all home after their racing career.

Marjorie loved nature and all animals, was an exceptional rider who, as a youth participated in and won many horse shows and was a member of the Olympic Trials team.

Later in life she rode for pleasure and could be found riding with her husband in Myles Standish Forest or at several beaches.

She rode until age 77 when her illness prohibited it.

She is survived by her husband Alan N. Dakers of Middleboro and her two daughters: Kara Connolly Diehl, her spouse Darren of Cypress Texas and Lynn Jackson of Amesbury; grandsons: Adam and Max Diehl, and Tyson and Dylan Jackson, and by extended family of Mark Dakers and his wife Kerryn and grandson Aiden, and Darcey Dakers and her husband Bob and their children Callie and Kevin Kamanitz.

Marjorie was a very private person in life and per her wishes there will be no viewing or public services. She will be interred in the Cemetery at The Green in Middleboro.
