LAKEVILLE - Marilyn A. (Cornell) Hunt, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family onThursday, March 20, 2025.
Marilyn was born on January 22, 1931, in Rockville Centre, New York. She lived in Bayport and Patchogue, New York as a child, graduating from Patchogue High School in 1948. She moved to Middleborough later that year. Marilyn worked for the Telephone Company in Middleborough. She met and married her husband Joseph M. Hunt Jr., moving to Lakeville in 1957. Marilyn was an election poll worker for the Town of Lakeville starting with the JFK Presidential Election continuing until 2020. She served on the Lakeville Park Commission and was always interested in Lakeville politics.
A communicant for many years at the Church of Our Savior, Middleborough, she was a fixture at the church's Nearly New Shop and loved volunteering and camaraderie with “the girls”.
She loved the beach, boating with Joe and the kids, and sunning herself on a clear day. She enjoyed dinners at Vel’s, Chinese food, bar pizza, and telling doctors what she would and would not do. She lived life on her terms, her way, until the very end.
Marilyn is survived by her loving sons, Gregg Hunt & his wife Elizabeth, and Paul Hunt & his wife Kim. She loved her grandchildren from a blended family, Logan Hunt & his wife Mikaela, Collin Hunt, Anthony Patti, Nicole Patti, and Vincent Patti & his fiancée Kirsten along with their children Vincent and Augustus.
Marilyn enjoyed visits and calls from her cousins, nieces, and nephews from around the country, her bonus daughter Danielle (Costa) Curran, and in her later years calls and letters from Elinor “Babe” Tanguay and Marilyne “Mebby” Banaszak with whom she had friendships for over 75 years.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred, Edward, and Jeffrey, as well as her husband, Joseph.
All are invited to the Wake at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 3:00-6:00 PM.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life is being planned for a future date.
