Man charged with stabbing teens to face dangerousness hearing
MIDDLEBORO — Jayden Wainwright, an 18-year-old Middleboro man charged with stabbing three teenagers, one critically, was ordered held at the Plymouth House of Corrections pending a June 29 dangerousness hearing during his arraignment at Wareham District Court.
The dangerousness hearing will determine whether Wainwright will be eligible for release or whether his release would endanger the community.
Wainwright is charged with stabbing two 19-year-old Carver men and a 15-year-old from Middleboro during what police described as a “pit party’’ in the area of the power lines on Wall Street in the early hours of Saturday, June 24.
The party was promoted on Snapchat, police said, and was attended by about 60 people. The gathering was located about a quarter mile down an access road off Wall Street.
A fight between two girls sparked a brawl, a witness told police.
When police arrived, they located the victim, who had stab wounds in his abdomen, thigh and calf. He was bleeding from an artery, police said, and was bleeding significantly.
The victim was “not doing well,’’ police said, and was “in and out of consciousness.’’ He was transported to Boston Medical Center in critical condition. His current condition was not known as of Tuesday June 27.
A second victim, another 19-year-old from Carver, was located nearby with numerous leg wounds and was to St. Luke’s Hospital. Police learned a third victim had been transported by private vehicle to Tobey Hospital with a stab wound to his leg.
Wainwright was identified in a video taken by a witness as having stabbed the critically injured victim multiple times while another youth held the victim down, police said. Police said they observed Wainwright making a stabbing motion numerous times while the victim covered his head.
Police on the scene learned that Wainwright and another youth then left the party and arrived at Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth covered in blood. When questioned by staff, they fled the hospital, police said. While trying to get away, they crashed the vehicle they were in, police said, and were apprehended by Plymouth Police.
The case remains under investigation, police said, and additional arrests may be made.
