Man charged with manslaughter, OUI in crash that killed Lakeville woman
LAKEVILLE — A Moscow, Maine man who was allegedly driving 100 miles per hour was indicted Aug. 24 in connection with an accident in Caratunk, Maine last year that killed two young women, one of them from Lakeville.
Eric Tankerley, 34, of Moscow, Maine, was indicted on two counts of manslaughter, two counts of aggravated criminal operating under the influence, speeding 30 miles over the speed limit and driving to endanger, according to Maeghan Maloney, district attorney for Somerset and Kennebec counties in Maine.
On May 14, 2022, Tankerley was driving on Route 201, according to published reports, when he struck a vehicle driven by Jordan Merchant, 25, of Eastbrook, Maine. She and her passenger, Lindsey Walsh, 28, of Lakeville, died at the scene.
Tankerley was driving 100 miles per hour, according to Maloney, which is nearly double the 55 miles per hour speed limit.
He is next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 6, when he is expected to enter a plea, Maloney said.
