Longtime Middleboro rotarian, business owner receives surprise celebration
MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro-Lakeville Rotary Club recently honored longtime member and past Middleboro business owner, Bob Saquet, with a surprise retirement celebration.
Saquet, the previous owner of Egger’s Furniture, has spent 60 years in the furniture industry. He’s operated the furniture store for 46 years of the nearly 200-year-old Middleboro business. Saquet has been a member of the rotary club for 45 years, served as Mansfield’s town moderator for about 34 years, and sits on the board of directors for the Retailers Association of Massachusetts as well.
More than 50 friends, family members, and community guests attended the event to celebrate Saquet’s role in the community. Those in attendance included Ken Butler, executive director of the Mass Arts Center, and Jim Mulcahy, assistant to the Middleboro town manager.
In addition, State Rep. Norman J. Orrall presented Saquet with a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives in recognition of his contributions to the community.
