Live piano provides mood music to spooky films at library
MIDDLEBORO — With a box full of classic films and musical scores, pianist Richard Hughes adds a third dimension of mood music to the very best, spookiest films of the Golden Age of Silent Movies during a program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Middleboro Public Library.
Hughes will accompany the action on screen with perfectly timed, live piano music, a spooktacular way to get in the spirit of the Halloween holiday.
As a boy, Hughes got hooked on the Keystone comedies show on public TV and, years later, learned how to play the "mood music" that accompanied silent movies. He currently travels throughout New England presenting his programs at libraries, schools and other venues.
Registration is requested for planning purposes but is not required for this free program. Those interested may register through the online events calendar at midlib.org.
