LAKEVILLE — Lakeville resident Alanna Thompson has been named one of the state’s unsung heroes by The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women during a celebration June 23 at the Statehouse.

Thompson was nominated by State Rep. Norman Orrall, who represents Lakeville. He said that while being a caring mother of twin girls and a successful real estate agent, she still finds time to devote to the betterment of her neighbors and community.

She serves as vice P]president for Lakeville Lions Club, is an active member in the Assawompset Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization and a member of the Southcoast Mother of Multiples Club.

Every year the commission coordinates with the state legislature to identify women deemed extraordinary. The women honored demonstrate leadership in their communities through their business endeavors, volunteering and overall community involvement.

This year marked the 20th annual celebration.
