LAKEVILLE — Sterling Anderson, a third grade student at Mullein Hill Christian Academy, has won first place in the statewide Arbor Day Poster Contest for his grade level.

The annual contest, hosted by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, invites students to explore the importance of trees through art. This year’s theme, “Trees Around the World,” will be featured in the department’s 2026 calendar.

Julie Coop of the Department of Conservation and Recreation visited Mullein Hill Christian Academy, located at 25 Staples Shore Road, to present Sterling with his award. He was joined by his art teacher, Sharon Schaffer, and his parents for the ceremony.

Sterling’s winning poster was selected from entries submitted by third grade students across Massachusetts. The contest aims to raise awareness among young people about the value of trees and environmental stewardship.
