Lakeville Senior Center has lots of upcoming activities
LAKEVILLE — Check out some of the upcoming happenings at the Lakeville Senior Center.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day luncheon will take place Tuesday, March 11 at noon. The Loon Pond Lodge at Ted Williams Camp will be the setting; corned beef and cabbage will be served and Irish musical entertainment provided by Bill Reidy.
This event is for Lakeville senior residents only. Sign-ups begin Monday, Feb. 10. Cost is $10 per person, due at signup.
Brain Builders will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. Learn how to create new connections to strengthen the brains by learning special activities and making small changes in one’s daily routine. All are welcome. Call to sign up at 508-947-7224.
A hearing clinic will take place Thursday, February 13 from 10 a.m. to noon by appointment.
At Home Hearing Health Care will provide a free hearing aid cleaning and/or free exam. Appointments are required. Call 508-947-7224 and press 1.
Coping with Grief or Loss Support Group meets on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.
This support group offers support and connection that comes from being with people who have also experienced some type of loss. Sign-ups are not required, and walk-ins are always welcome. This program is Funded by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs in partnership with Massachusetts Councils on Aging and the City of New Bedford.
Mobile Foot Care services will be offered by certified foot care nurse Tina McDonald Thursday, Feb. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. by appointment.
Call 508-947-7224 to sign up for a 20-minute session. This is a private pay service of $50, payable to the nurse by cash, check, Venmo or credit card. Tina also offers in-home services; these appointments are at least an hour in length and the private pay cost is $100.
Enjoy a movie and snacks. “La La Land’’ will be shown at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 and “The Time Traveler’s Wife’’ will be screened at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24.

Painting with Amy is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19.

“Ouch, My Aching Joint,” self-care acupressure for arthritis will be presented at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20.
Arthritis is a common ailment that many people face as they age. Self-care acupressure, which consists of applying pressure to specific points on the body, can help relieve pain and promote healing. Sign-ups are required, call: 508-947-7224, press 1.
A special Valentine’s Café Event “Live Game Show” will take place on Friday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
Anyone who has ever wanted to be a contestant on a “live’’ game show is encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded for all winners. Sign-ups are required for this event, call: 508-947-7224.
Pop Up Art Class: Crafting with Books Teacup and Saucer will be offered at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Craft a three-dimensional teacup and saucer using torn book pages. This could make a unique gift for a loved one, or a fun accent on a bookshelf. Signups are required and the cost is $5 per person due at signup.
Bingo and Lunch is available at noon Tuesday, Feb. 25.
This popular event features bingo, lunch and prizes. Spots are limited, the cost is $5 due at time of sign-up.
Play Bunco 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Feb. 28. No experience is needed and the game organizer will provide instructions on how to play. Call to sign up at 508-947-7224, press 1. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Hand, Knee & Foot is played the first and third Friday in February, March and April at 10 a.m.
Also known as “Triple Play,’” this card game is a variation on the more traditionally played canasta but designed to be more challenging, with a larger group of participants and even more cards. Walk-ins are welcome.
A “Focus on Lakeville” presentation will be presented Friday March 7 at noon.
Andrea Miller, daughter of Ruso Perkins, World War II veteran, will give a brief history of the Army 10th Mountain Division World War II during a “Focus on Lakeville’’ presentation at noon Friday, March 7. She will discuss this division, also known as the ski troops, and its impact on the U.S. ski industry following the end of the war.
She will also talk about the present-day 10th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum, N.Y. and the Army Mountain Warfare School in Jericho, Vt. Following the talk, the movie “Climb to Glory” will be shown. Sign-ups are required; call 508-947-7224.
Elder fraud training with the FBI and Lakeville Police Department will be offered at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13.
The FBI in conjunction with the Lakeville Police Department, will hold this special training to help educate the members of the community on the different types of elder fraud, how to spot them, and how to report to the proper authorities. Sign-ups are required; call: 508-947-7224.
