Lakeville police officer recognized for dedication to elder community

LAKEVILLE — Sergeant Emily Melo of the Lakeville Police Department has received the 2025 Pat Foley Advocacy Award, presented by Old Colony Elder Services.

The award honors individuals who show dedication to improving the safety and quality of life for older adults. It is named after longtime elder advocate Pat Foley.

Melo, who serves as the department’s Elder Affairs Liaison, has worked closely with the Lakeville Senior Center to improve outreach and access to resources for older residents. 

“The Lakeville Police Department commends Sergeant Melo for her compassion, dedication, and tireless advocacy on behalf of the town’s senior population,” stated the Lakeville Police Department in a press release. 

Old Colony Elder Services serves older adults and individuals with disabilities in Southeastern Massachusetts.
