FAIRHAVEN —  A 40-year-old Lakeville man was one of two people arrested by Fairhaven police in connection with a drug-related incident Monday, July 16.

James Williams of Lakeville was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, according to Lt. Kevin Kobza of Fairhaven Police.

At about 12:30 p.m., Fairhaven detectives observed what they believed was a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the parking lot of the Seaport Resort & Marina on Middle Street in Fairhaven, Kobza said.

Ryan Reynolds, 43, of Acushnet, was in Williams’ vehicle, a white Toyota Rav 4, police said. When police approached, Reynolds exited the vehicle and was apprehended, Kobza said.

Williams allegedly attempted to flee from the scene in the vehicle, driving aggressively towards a detective, police said. He sped into the rear section of the nearby Middle Street parking lot, where he was apprehended, police said.

Reynolds was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl.

Detectives seized more than 28 grams of cocaine, more than 15 grams of fentanyl and over $900 in cash, police said.
