Lakeville library plans book clubs, art displays
LAKEVILLE — Lakeville Public Library is hosting several events through August.
Local artist Annie Hartnett will discuss her new book, “Unlikely Animals,’’ at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22. For more information, visit www.anniehartnett.com.
Novel Teas book group meets the last Tuesday of every month. The August meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30.
The book will be “In Five Years’’ by Rebecca Serle. Copies are available at the main desk. Next month’s selection may also be available. The September book will be “Iron and Fire’’ by Kerrin Willis.
Weekly activities include Hooks ‘n Needles knitting at 5 p.m. Thursday and Cribbage Club at 6 p.m.
In the Great Pond Gallery, the Lakeville Historic Commission will present “Baskets, Boxes and Tins’’ through Sept. 1. The exhibit will focus on the history of containers for storage and the variety, range of sizes and creative expression in the construction of these items through the years.
“Book Art and Blooms V’’ will be featured from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in the Great Ponds Gallery.
Book-inspired art pieces created by local artists along with coordinating floral arrangements by Lakeville Garden Club members will be on display.
A silent auction will be held for the arrangements. Refreshments will be served.
The library will be closed at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 for staff development.
The library is located at 4 Precinct St. and is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Friday and Sunday.
