Lakeville Historical Society museum open for summer
LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Historical Museum on Bedford Street in Lakeville is now open through September. Visitors are welcome to visit the three buildings at 442 Bedford St. Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m.
Admission is free. The main building is the former Grove Chapel Church and two newer carriage shed buildings are also part of the complex. The museum collection includes items related to Lakeville’s history and the community’s earlier history as the West Precinct of Middleboro before 1853.
The Old Engine #3 Association houses Lakeville’s first brand new fire truck in the left carriage shed.
The annual yard sale will be held at the museum on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations for the sale may be dropped off during museum hours on June 8 and 9 and 15 and 16. No items will be accepted the weekend of the sale.
The society is raising funds for restoration repairs to the former Grove Chapel building’s cupola. To support the project, checks may be made out to the;Lakeville Historical Society (notation line Cupola) and sent to Lakeville Historical Society, P.O. Box 917, Lakeville, MA 02347.
