Lakeville, Freetown Girl Scouts honor the fallen with flags

LAKEVILLE — Girl Scouts from Lakeville and Freetown dedicated a portion of the lead-up to Memorial Day honoring the true meaning of the holiday.
“Every year members of the Girl Scouts of Lakeville and Freetown replace flags on veterans’ graves at local cemeteries before Memorial Day to show their respect for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation,’’ said troop leader Michelle Hecht.
The girls participate in community service year-round. The ultimate goal, Hecht said, was to reflect part of their mission: “To make the world a better place. ’’
