Lakeville Fire receives grant for personal protective equipment

Dec 15, 2022

LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Fire Department has received a grant funding award of $13,467.99 to cover the cost of personal protective equipment replacement.

This is the department’s third Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Safety Equipment grant, bringing the total to nearly $50,000.

The funding has been used to provide firefighters with two sets of compliant turnout gear and lightweight wildland firefighting protective clothing. Having two sets of gear promote frequent washing, which minimizes the exposure to contaminants which are frequently found in turnout gear.

The Lakeville Fire Department would like to thank the elected leaders who have funded this grant program, including State Rep. Norman Orrall and State Sen. Michael Roderigues, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services for its management of the firefighter safety initiative and the Lakeville Select Board, which supports the grant-writing initiatives.
