Impressive turnout at first Rotary Yard Sale
MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Rotary Club held its first-ever yard sale fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 16 to fund scholarships for local students.
Residents sold goods under the bright sun on the Middleboro Town Hall lawn. Vendors paid the Rotary Club for space, the proceeds of which go toward the club’s charitable education fund. Vendors kept all money made from sales.
“We’re always looking for ways to see how we can help,” said Middleboro Rotary Club President Albert Mui. “In order for us to do that, we have to hold a fundraiser.”
Rotary Club members donated most of the goods for sale, according to Mui. He added that the club gives out four scholarships annually.
“This is kind of a first run for us, so we’ll definitely be doing these again in the future,” said Rotary Club Member and Yard Sale Organizer Sascha Mules-O’Roak. “We’re hoping to do one in the spring, so hopefully we’ll get more people interested in getting rid of some of their stuff.”
Mui said that everyone is welcome to Middleboro Rotary Club meetings, held every Wednesday at 6:15 pm at the Fireside Grille.
“If there’s someone who needs something, that’s what the Rotary is for,” Mui said.
