Glenn Edward Abramson
Oct 7, 2024
Glenn (“Abe” or “Mike”) Edward Abramson of Middleboro passed away peacefully at his home in Rockland, MA, on Friday, October 4, 2024, after a battle with a long illness.
Glenn was born at St. Luke’s Hospital on August 19, 1952 and lived in Middleboro for most of his life. He was the son of the late Margaret “Peg” (Darling) Abramson and Charles Abramson. He is survived by his sister, June Abramson of Middleboro, MA, and was predeceased by his brother, Carl Abramson of Painter, VA.
Glenn is survived by his devoted and loving wife of over 52 years, Carol Abramson (Brackett) of Rockland, MA, and his four cherished daughters: Stacy Pala and her husband Franco Pala of Rockland, MA; Denise Schumitz and her husband Matthew Schumitz of Taunton, MA; Holly Langenfeld and her husband Nicholas Langenfeld of Rochester, MA; and Carla Devine and her husband Kevin Devine of Taunton, MA. A true family man, his daughters were his pride and joy, and he dedicated his life to providing them with unwavering fatherly love and support. His deep devotion to their happiness and well-being was evident in everything he did, and he took great pride in watching them grow into the strong, accomplished women they are today.
“Papa” is also survived by his five beloved grandchildren, Maria Chiara, Mauro, and Paolo Pala, and Paige and Haylee Devine, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
An animal lover, Glenn enjoyed visits from his “pack” of grand-dogs: Asa, Beauty, Bruce, Duffy, Ezekiel, Farloe, Gigi, Hero, Monster, Pixie, Reba, and Victor.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from across the country.
A graduate of Taunton Vocational Technical High School, Glenn graduated one year early and at the top of his automotive technician class. As a Master Mechanic, “Abe” held numerous positions at automotive shops and dealerships and was always "on call" to help family and friends with any mechanical issues or projects they had.
His love for tools and building began at a young age, starting with his dismantling of his parents' kitchen table at just three years old. His ingenuity and technical ability to fix almost anything was a true gift. He had a passion for restoring and rebuilding cars and trucks that others considered junk, putting his heart and soul into each project. Along with his work on small and large engines, he was a jack-of-all-trades, finding joy in carpentry, sewing, cooking, and growing Christmas trees on his small homestead. A bit of a perfectionist, his favorite saying was, “Measure twice, and cut once.”
Abe was a lifelong learner, always curious about the world—whether it was history, food, travel, or engineering. He had a natural gift for teaching and loved sharing his knowledge with anyone eager to learn. He was a kind and gentle father figure to many, offering a listening ear, support, guidance, and encouragement. His positive influence touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A gifted storyteller, Glenn had the ability to bring any story to life with the vivid detail and thoughtfulness he used in his words. He was a social person who loved meeting new people and was always a favorite patient of his nurses. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, trying new foods and cuisines, and was an adventurous eater! Glenn was also the king of puns and dad jokes, always bringing humor and laughter to those around him.
Despite facing many health challenges, Glenn always maintained a positive mindset, finding the silver lining in even the toughest situations. His resilience and determination to stay optimistic, even in the face of adversity, inspired everyone around him. Glenn’s optimism and bravery throughout his illnesses allowed him to spend more cherished time with his loving family, a gift he valued deeply. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his loved ones, and no matter how difficult things became, he never let it diminish his desire to be present for them. His strength in those moments left an enduring legacy of love and courage.
Visitation and services will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 2–5 p.m. at O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Pierce St., Middleboro. In remembrance of Glenn's life, the family kindly requests that charitable donations be made to The American Lung Association.
