MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Parks Department is putting on a whole host of activities for residents to soak up the sun. 

The Middleboro public pool opened Monday, July 8. The pool will be open everyday from 1 to 4 p.m. until Friday, Aug. 16. Costs are $2 for children, $3 for adults and $80 for a family season pass. 

Residents can now sign up for the Middleboro Parks Department full and half day summer programs. Programs begin July 8 through Aug. 16. The cost for the full day program is $50 a day, $200 a week or $850 for the full summer if paid by July 8. 

Half day program costs are $35 a day or $140 a week. 

All shows are free and are held at 1 p.m.

The annual Joe Masi “Hall of Fame” Weenie Roast will be held on Wednesday, August 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with no cost. 

The 71st annual Middleboro Summer Olympics will be held August 12 – 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free for all participants. Ribbons and medals will be awarded. Full day activities for those in the supervised summer program this week are $100 per child. 

The parks department offers a variety of programs for swim lessons. Certified Lifeguards are present for all lessons. 

The “Moms and Tots” and 3 to 5 year old programs are available Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays at $75 per session. 

Lessons for children five years and older are available Monday through Friday with a cost of $120 per session. For all age groups, lessons are available at 10 or 11 a.m.

The Parks Department Outdoor “Back In” movie nights, shown on a 20’ x 40’ screen, include: 

July 13 – Jaws

July 27 – Free Willy

Aug. 17 – Barbie

Oct. 19 – Hocus Pocus (7 p.m.)

Movies start at 8:30 p.m. in the lower softball fields, with the exception of Hocus Pocus. There is no cost, but a donation of $20 is suggested. Light refreshments will be available. Call 508-846-2440 with any questions. Vehicle capacity for movie showings is 70-75 cars.
