LAKEVILLE — Four people were hospitalized after a crash Saturday, April 22 on Pierce Avenue after a car left the road and struck trees, the Lakeville Fire Department reported

The department responded at 10:45 p.m. after dispatchers received multiple 911 calls.

When they arrived, one person needed to be removed from the vehicle using extrication tools. Three other occupants had gotten out of the vehicle on their own, the department reported.

Four people were transported to hospitals. Two people were separately transported by Freetown ambulance and Berkley ambulance to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. Lakeville ambulance transported two patients to St. Luke’s Hospital.

Names and exact conditions were not available, but the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, the department reported.

Fire Chief Michael O'Brien commended the performance of the firefighters who responded. With an on-duty complement of three firefighters, this effort was only possible with the help of off duty and on-call firefighters, he said.

He also thanked the Berkley and Freetown fire departments for their assistance.
