Edward Michael Lavelle, 80

Aug 25, 2022

Edward Michael Lavelle, formerly of Middleborough, passed away at his home in Spring, The Woodlands, Texas, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the age of 80.  Edward “Fast Eddie” Lavelle finished his earthly journey, joining his beloved wife Carol (Burke) and son Sean Thomas in heaven.

Ed was born September 28, 1941, in Avon, where he lived and graduated high school.  After high school,  Ed worked in the construction industry where he owned his own company until retirement at the age of 77.  He had an amazing career in both the residential and commercial industries; he was known for being able to build the impossible.  Ed loved the ocean.  He could often be found traveling the New England coast on his beloved boat, the Sean-T.  Ed never met a stranger and would often have a house or boat full of guests.  If he wasn’t working or on his boat, he was at an event for his family, and he would often be found in an ice rink or next to a field (sometimes just outside the field parameters for a disagreement with an official).  Ed could always generate a laugh and capture an audience.  He was a master of the Irish whisper, you could hear him before you saw him.  Throughout the years, you’d often see Ed with one of his beloved dogs, typically hitting a Dunkin Donuts drive-through.  He was a lifetime resident of Massachusetts until his final adventure of moving to The Woodlands, Texas last year.

He’ll be missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Helen (Williams) Lavelle and her daughter Karen Michels who were his companions in his last years.  He leaves behind his children; Edward Lavelle, Jr. of Somerville and Wafa Lavelle of Quincy, Brian and wife Ann Lavelle of Middleborough, Kelly and husband Kevin Dunn of The Woodlands, TX, Erin and husband Matt Maher of Middleborough and Ryan and wife Ashley Lavelle of Plymouth; and step-daughter Sheila Michaels.   He also leaves behind many grandchildren, family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on MondayAugust 29, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON, with a prayer service in the funeral home starting at 12:00 NOON.
