It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edelweiss Lydia Lynch, age 96, who departed this life on January 6, 2025, at Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleborough, following a brief illness. Born on May 18, 1928, in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Bertha (McCarthy) Gardner. Edelweiss spent her formative years in Swansea, MA, and was a cherished resident of East Taunton, MA for many years.

A dedicated registered nurse, Edelweiss devoted her career to caring for others, serving at Truesdale Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, the Middleborough School of Nursing, and Island Terrace Nursing Home. Her compassionate nature and commitment to her profession left a lasting impact on the lives she touched. A devout Catholic, she was a proud Marshall for the Emblem Club of Middleborough.

Edelweiss found joy in life through simple pleasures-knitting warm garments and solving crossword puzzles. She will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Grenier and her husband, Paul, as well as her son, Michael Lynch. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Paul Grenier Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Shawn Grenier and Jessica, Scott Grenier, Katlyn Houlihan, John K. Lynch II, Michael Robert Lynch and Debbie, and Kelly Lynch Wilson and her husband Matt, alongside many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Edelweiss was predeceased by her sons, Daniel Lynch and John Lynch, as well as her grandchildren, Dawn Lynch and Kevin Lynch. Her legacy of love and care will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

In honor of her life, an "Irish Wake" will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Elks Lodge of Middleborough, located at 24 High Street, Middleborough, MA 02346. All who wish to commemorate her life and share in the memories gathered are warmly invited to attend.
