Dr. Daphne Remy Gomes appointed to Commission on Status of Women
MIDDLEBOROUGH — A Middleborough physician has been appointed to a two-year term on the Plymouth County Commission on the Status of Women, which gives a voice to and advocates on behalf of women and the policies that affect their health.
Dr. Daphne C. Remy Gomes’ term will begin on January 1, 2025, and extend through December 31, 2027. The Plymouth County Commission on the Status of Women is dedicated to promoting and advocating for the rights, opportunities and equality of women throughout Plymouth County.
Remy Gomes said she will work to identify challenges women face, elevate their voices and advocate for policies that enhance their lives and well-being while bringing medical expertise and a passion for community service to the role.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Plymouth County Commission on the Status of Women,” said Remy Gomes. “This opportunity allows me to advocate for the empowerment and advancement of women across Plymouth County, and I am excited to collaborate with my fellow commissioners to drive meaningful change.”
She currently serves as the Neonatology executive director for the Southcoast Health system, an affiliate of Boston Children’s Hospital, and is an advocate for equity and inclusion.
Remy Gomes added that her appointment to the commission reflects her dedication to addressing critical issues affecting women and families in Plymouth County and her commitment to fostering progress and equity in the community.
