Apr 9, 2024

KINGSTON - David E. Bennett, age 58, of Kingston, formerly of Middleborough and Plympton, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. David spent the last 10 years courageously battling complications from diabetes.

He was the son of the late Delora & Sally (Johnson) Bennett and the brother of the late Holly Bennett. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Stewart & her husband Rick of Middleborough; his niece, Diane Stewart of Middleborough; his nephew, Ricky Stewart of Middleborough; several aunts, uncles, many, many cousins, and lots of friends.

David attended Middleborough Public Schools. He worked at Arcata Graphics in Plympton, and Guardian Insurance Company in Norwell.

David had many passions. He loved all things sports; being an avid Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots enthusiast. He also was a big Nascar fan, with Rusty Wallace being his favorite driver. David enjoyed collecting baseball cards and stamps. He spent many hours on his computer tracing back not only his family history, but other family histories as well. He traced his lineage back to the Mayflower descendants and also found a relative from the Salem witch trials. David was the family historian and could recall much of the information off the top of his head. He located several relatives, a couple who disappeared intentionally and some that did not know they were relatives of his family. David looked forward to attending family reunions and gatherings and spending time with his family.

When he wasn't doing sports and family history, he enjoyed volunteering on the Tourism Committee in Middleborough. He spent many years helping out at various events in town; it was one of his favorite things to do. David could always be found at the Herring Run Festival or at the Christmas Lights Festival at the KOA. His most favorite event was volunteering at the Historical Oliver House functions, where he could dress up as an authentic descendent of the home. He also loved anything Star Wars, and would occasionally dress up as Darth Vader for work.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
