Comic Steve Sweeney to perform at Alley Theatre

Sep 29, 2022

MIDDLEBORO — Boston comic and actor Steve Sweeney will perform at The Alley Theatre, 133 Center St., Middleboro Friday, Oct. 21. The show begins at 7 p.m. The Bartending Service of New England begins pouring at 6:30 p.m. Singer Jake Gervais will open the show.

The early 1970s are often thought of as the fledgling years of comedy clubs. During that time, a small group of Boston would-be comedians joined together in a back street Chinese restaurant (the now famous Ding-Ho) off Inman Square, in Cambridge. This group included such then-unknowns as Lenny Clarke, Kevin Meaney, Jay Leno, Bobcat Goldwaithe, Steven Wright and Sweeney.

Known for his use of dialects and insight into the New England political scene, Sweeney has been performing to sold out crowds since the inception of his career in comedy. He was the star of “Park Street Under’’, a Boston-based sit-com. He has appeared on the David Letterman show, Evening at the Improv, HBO, Caroline's, and The Cam Neely-Denis Leary Comics Come Home special.

Tickets are $40 per person and must be purchased in advance. For tickets email burtwoodschool@aol.com
