Carolyn Joan (MacMasters) Cady, 92
Carolyn “Joan” (MacMasters) Cady, 92, of Middleboro passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025 with her family by her side. Joan was born on September 28th, 1932 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Rose (Sceles) and Charles MacMasters.
Joan graduated from Jamaica Plain High School, class of 1950. Joan later married Robert “Bob” Cady on November 6, 1954 at Ruggles Street Baptist Church in Roxbury, MA. They were married 67 years before Bob's passing in October 2022. They had seven children and after several moves, settled in Middleboro in the early 1960s.
Joan worked for many years as a teacher's aide in the Middleboro Public School system, primarily in the special education program.
Joan loved her family and friends deeply. She loved playing cards especially with her sisters and their long standing card club. She attended club every week up until just recently. Joan loved her casino trips, skiing and golfing in her younger years, and going on many trips around New England and beyond. Joan and her husband always enjoyed traveling to a new “tropical paradise” such as the Bahamas, Aruba, and Bermuda. More recently, Joan enjoyed the annual summer trips to Old Orchard Beach, ME, where she could be found swimming in the hotel pools as recently as this past summer.
Joan attended Central Baptist Church in Middleboro for many years.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, Robert, her son Robert Jr., and her daughter, Debbie Belcher, as well as her brother George MacMasters and sisters Mildred Feinberg, Evelyn Pirrello, Thelma Armour, Bernice Duffy, and Eleanor McKernon . She is survived by her children Sharon Woodman (husband Barry) of Bristol, NH, Peter Cady of N. Attleboro, Paul Cady of Attleboro, Dan Cady (wife Azusa) of Berlin, and Carolyn Mullins (husband Joe) of Bristol, NH; her grandchildren, Jennifer Conniff, Jacob Belcher, Jeremy Cady, Sandra Woodman, Jason Belcher, Amy Woodman, Brian Woodman, Anna Mullins, Caleigh Mullins, and Miona Cady, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2:00-4:00 pm with a service at approximately 3:00 pm at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 17 Main Street, (Rt. 105) Lakeville, MA
