Breaking: Middleboro teen suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by car
MIDDLEBORO — A 15-year-old Middleboro High School student suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a vehicle Sunday evening on Route 28, Police Chief Joseph Perkins and Fire Chief Owen Thompson reported.
Police received multiple calls at 7:23 p.m. that a young male was struck by a car on East Grove Street (Route 28) in front of Hannaford’s supermarket. He was treated at the scene and taken by medical helicopter to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene, was emotionally upset and was cooperating with police.
Portions of Route 28 remained closed as of 9 p.m. Several people witnessed the incident and provided statements, Perkins said.
The incident is under investigation by the Middleboro Police Department. The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section is assisting at the scene.
