Bradford Allen Neilson, 80
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bradford Allen Neilson, age 80, who peacefully ascended to heaven on January 8, 2025, following a courageous five-year battle with multiple myeloma. His journey on this earth has come to a close, and we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now free from pain, suffering, and sorrow.
Born on April 9, 1944, in Taunton, Massachusetts, Brad was the cherished son of Lois A. (Demers) and John A. Neilson. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lois M. (Baxter) Neilson, with whom he shared fifty-one wonderful years of marriage. Brad is also survived by his brother, Rick Neilson, and his longtime partner, Terumi, both of Raynham, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Brad proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1966 during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service extended into his professional life as an engineer with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. He was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church in Middleborough and a lifetime member of both the Mitchell Memorial Club and the Middleborough Elks Lodge.
A passionate sports fan, Brad remained an unwavering supporter of the Boston Red Sox throughout his life, even naming his beloved tabby cat Fenway in their honor. He brought joy and laughter to many, especially during his cherished mornings at Appazidis, where he shared engaging conversations and spirited discussions about politics with his coffee friends.
A graveside service honoring Brad's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the Veterans Cemetery at Thompson Hill, located on Rhode Island Road (Rt. 79), Lakeville, MA 02347. Family and friends who plan on attending are invited to meet at the funeral home between 11:00-11:15AM to line up and go processional to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Brad's name to the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund Clinic, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215, or online at www.dana-farber.org, or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue 7th Floor Norwalk, CT 06851, or online at https://themmrf.org
Brad Neilson will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
