LAKEVILLE — Lakeville voters mirrored the statewide and national trend and selected President Joe Biden and former President Donald J. Trump as the Democratic and Republican winners in the March 5 Super Tuesday presidential primary.

Of the 957 voters who cast Democratic ballots, 780 selected Biden. Sixty-one opted for “no preference,’’ 56 selected Jean Phillips and 42 voters chose for Marianne Williamson.

Nearly twice as many voters _ 1843 _ voted for Republican candidates. Trump received 1,264, well more than twice as many as his closest challenger Nikki Haley, who got 516 votes. No other candidate on the ballot received more than 25 votes, with 21 voters opting for “no preference.’’

In the race for Republican state committee man, Gabriel Boomer Amaral received 881 votes. His fellow contender Angel Pantoja was the choice of 458 voters, while 502 cast blanks.

The Republican state committee woman will be Kayla Rose Churchill, the sole candidate, who was selected by 1,181 voters, while 653 blanks were cast.

On the Democratic side, Kevin J. Costa, the only candidate for state committee man, was selected by 760 voters. One hundred ninety-four voters cast blanks.

Deborah A. Fastino defeated Nadia Anne Paquette, 584 to 187, for Democratic state committee woman. One hundred forty-four blanks were cast.

Of the Libertarian candidates, “no preference’’ was the top vote-getter among the 35 voters who opted for that party’s ballot with 11 votes. Ten voters opted to write in a candidate and four blanks were cast.

None of the five candidates on the ballot received more than four votes. No candidates were on the ballot for the party’s state committee man and woman position.

As they voted Tuesday morning, two Lakeville residents spoke of the importance of casting a ballot. Carole Campbell said she “always’’ votes because it’s important and is “my right.’’

Pam Sergio said every vote counts and said she looked forward to having a say in the direction of the country.
