Barbara Carol (Lamminmaki) Maksy, aged 85 years, died at home in Middleborough. Born on May 12, 1939, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Middleborough to John H. and Mildred (Charron) Lamminmaki. She loved growing up in and around Plymouth with her brother, Harold Lamminmaki, and sister, Lorraine (Lamminmaki) DaCosta, both deceased.

She was devoted to and immensely proud of her 6 children – Barbara Maksy-Brown, Emil Maksy, Donna Bernabeo, Bruce Maksy, Derek Maksy, and Daniel Maksy – who all mourn her passing deeply. In time, her family expanded to including 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who recall many happy sleepovers, dinners, and holiday celebrations with Nana. Her love of and commitment to family also extended far beyond her home to include her niece, Victoria Lamminmaki, and nephew, Glenn Lamminmaki, of Florida.

Friends and neighbors may remember her working at the Pineshed Restaurant in Wareham, at Ben’s Chicken House in Middleborough, or at the Middleborough Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, Elvis, elephants, cheering on the Red Sox, and her many trips to Florida, Maine, and Hawaii.

She was a remarkable mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Visiting hours on June 29, 2024 (Saturday) from 12 Noon until 2 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro. A graveside service will follow at 3 PM in the Central Cemetery, Main Street (Route 58) Carver.
