Annual Tihonet Fishing Derby casts off June 1

WAREHAM — Grab your gear and your early morning coffee — the Tihonet Fishing Derby returns Sunday, June 1, from 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Tihonet Pond.
Sponsored by the A.D. Makepeace Company, this annual event benefits the WRGC Associate Program and promises a full day of fishing, food and family-friendly fun.
Fishing kicks off at 6 a.m., with weigh stations closing promptly at 1:30 p.m. Boats may launch at 5:45 a.m. No gas boat engines are allowed.
In-person pre-registration runs Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at Box Mill Hall. Day-of registration and breakfast begin at 5 a.m. on derby day.
Entry fees. $15 for adults (18–59), $15 for seniors (60+), $10 for teens (13–17 and $5 for children 12 and under. Online registration is available at Event Brite. All registrations include breakfast.
Prizes and raffles. Big fish mean big rewards — including cash prizes and a 50/50 Lunker Pool. Raffle tickets, including a $20 grand prize drawing, will be available throughout the event. Bait will be available for purchase on site.
