LAKEVILLE – On Friday Nov. 17, Lakeville Firefighter Patrick O’Donovan took the next step in his career and graduated from a firefighting academy hosted by the New Bedford Fire Department. 

O’Donovan had started working for the Lakeville Fire Department as a part time firefighter, Lakeville Fire Chief Michael O'Brien explained. He had previously worked as a nurse and was later hired by the Lakeville Fire Department to work full time.

O’Donovan is “one of our success stories,” O’Brien said. “He was hired as a qualified firefighter, he’s a registered nurse, he’s a paramedic. This is the last step of his training. He’s now a certified firefighter.”

“He’s a really smart individual,” O’Brien added.
