‘It was a hit’: Lakeville Lions Club holds successful Easter Egg Hunt

Mar 30, 2024

LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Lions Club hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, March 30. This year, the turnout was one of the best the club has ever seen, members said.

“It was a hit,” said Alanna Thompson, the Lakeville Lions Club Event Coordinator.

Eggs were strewn across the front lawn of the clubhouse and divided into sections based on age group. That way, younger kids were not competing for the eggs with older kids, who are much faster, club members said.

Participants picked the ground clean in record time. “The 7 to 9 year olds were done in 90 seconds,” said Thompson. After five minutes, there wasn’t an egg left in sight.

“This year was definitely one of our best turn-outs,” said Lions club member Bill Comeau. “It’s my favorite event of the year.”

Scavenger Shae Ng, 6, estimated that she’d collected “110 eggs” and had one simple request for the Easter Bunny: Chocolate.

Other Lakeville egg-hunters had more specific wishes. Four-year-old Cecilia Cattabriga said she hoped the Easter bunny would bring her a new necklace to replace one she had broken.

While 6-year-old Aubrey Quinn-Black said she wanted another pink stuffed animal peep to add to her collection.

After the egg hunt, children lined up to visit with the Easter Bunny.

Alanna Thompson noted that she loves “seeing the little kids get so excited.”

Those who worked up an appetite foraging eggs could refuel afterwards with a donut.

The Lakeville Lions Club stated that they wanted to thank Russell & Pica Funeral Home, which serves both Lakeville and Middleboro, for donating the refreshments for the egg hunt.
