Russell “Russ” Gaylord Wynn, Sr., 83

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce that heaven gained another angel on August 12, 2026. Surrounded by loving family members, Russell “Russ” Gaylord Wynn, Sr., age 83, was called home by Jesus. It was his strong faith in the Lord that helped him through these past few months. 

Russ was predeceased by the love of his life, Frances “Franny” Wynn and their son, their Champion, Codi Nathaniel.  Russ and Franny were married for 56 years prior to Franny’s passing.  With their love of the mountains, they had a dream to move to New Hampshire and so they did. They spent the rest of their days together in Northumberland, NH after moving from Middleborough, MA where they raised their family.

Russ went to Boston English High School in the early 1960’s and took several courses at Massasoit Community College. He was the General Manager of several Howard Johnson’s in the 1970’s. After leaving Howard Johnson’s, he decided to go into business for himself. His first endeavor was a Painting Business, which he named for his sons.  The second business he had, he would buy houses and renovate them. Once moving to New Hampshire, he started his Wood Working Business, in which several of his grandchildren helped him name it, “GRAMPS”.  Russ was extremely proud of his Wood Working Business.  He grew such an incredible reputation,

that people from around New England would go to purchase his craftmanship.   

Russ was a Little League Coach for several years for his sons in Middleboro.  The first year that he coached, his team won no games but the following year, they won the championship.  Russ was very proud of that and so were his boys.

Russ and his wife Franny loved Amish Country in Pennsylvania where they would go every chance they could. Russ enjoyed a Good Poker Game and would visit the casino on occasion. Russ enjoyed a western; any western. He was an avid John Wayne Fan and loved all his movies.  He also loved his Cowboy Hats and Boots and  he would wear them just about every day.  Russ and Franny had planned a trip to Grand Canyon prior to Franny’s illness. Russ was a history buff and enjoyed reading or watching any documentary on history. He also enjoyed watching Billy Graham and reading the Bible, with the book of Matthew being his favorite.

Up until the winter of 2026, Russ enjoyed going Snowmobiling and ATVing with his friend Steve through the hills of New Hampshire.

Most of all Russ loved his family.  He was a proud Dad, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He adored all his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and it was very much returned.  He was known for saying “All of my Grandchildren are smart”.

He also enjoyed playing with his constant companion, his beloved dog Coco, a Lab Mix, who went to be with Jesus February of this year. 

Born in Boston, MA, Russell was the son of the late Elizabeth (Stevens) Wynn. He was the devoted husband of the late Frances (Lifrieri) Wynn. The cherished father of Francine Stadelmann of Fairhaven, Russell G. Wynn, Jr. of Newport, Vermont, Frederick Wynn and his wife Tammy of Taunton, Dawn Pettey of Middleboro and the late Codi Nathaniel Wynn.

He was the cherished Granddaddy of Caitlyn (Stadelmann) Butler and her husband, Nickolas, Brittany, Tyler, Sarah, Kaylie, Jaclyn, Gracie and Stephen.  He was the much loved Great- Grandaddy of Audriana, Scarlett, Gabriel, Ny, Adeline, Neo, Zay Zay and Amelia.

Russell was the brother of the late Frederick C. Wynn, the late Carol (Wynn) Lifrieri, the late Joyce (Wynn) Bays, and the late Renee (Wynn) Farnsworth. Russell also wanted it to be made very clear that his late wife Franny’s siblings were HIS siblings too, and he loved them as such.

He also leaves behind Mary (Lifrieri) McKinney of Nashville, Tennessee, John Lifrieri of Plymouth, Diana (Lifrieri) Roebuck and her husband, Sam of Chesapeake, Virginia, Robert Lifrieri and his wife Janice of Hanson and Christine (Lifrieri) Cole and her husband, Richard of Plymouth. Russell leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews. 

Russell also leaves behind his Best Friend Steven Collins and his wife Liz.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather to pay their last respects on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of North Middleboro, 111 Plymouth Street (corner of Route 18). This will be followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.  

Interment to follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleboro.
