James "Jimmy" Brooks, 58

ASSONET  -  James "JIMMY" M. Brooks, age 58, of Assonet, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at his home.

Born in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of James E. Brooks, Jr. & the late Gertrude M. (Henry) Brooks.  James graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School and Massasoit Community College, receiving an Associate's Degree in HVAC.  For over 30 years, he worked at Iron Workers Local 7 and enjoyed all his time and friendships made there.  Jimmy loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, spending summers in Ocean City, New Jersey and also watching his favorite two football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots.  He was a lifelong fan of his hometown baseball team, the New York Yankees.  James was an avid drawer, and was able to share those picture drawings with his family.

For 28 years, Jimmy was the beloved husband to Tracy (Brennan) Brooks; loving father of Avery Brooks and her fiancé Joshua Reidy of New Bedford and Cassidy Brooks of Assonet; devoted son of James E. Brooks, Jr. of New York; cherished brother of Keith Brooks of New York and the late Christopher Brooks.  James is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.  He was also the uncle of the late Christopher "CJ" Brooks.  James was thrilled with the news of becoming a grandfather, welcoming his first grandchild very soon.  He leaves behind his faithful companions, Shiloh and Everleigh.  James was loved and will be missed dearly.

All are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 PM.

Family and friends are invited to his funeral service at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

Interment services will follow at the Assonet Burying Ground Cemetery, South Main Street (Route 79), Assonet.
