Elvis won’t be in the building, but lots of art will from Oak Point

MIDDLEBORO — The Oak Point Art Association will participate in the Middleboro Reveal and Windows Alive event sponsored by the Downtown Improvement Committee on First Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Bridge Church, 31 Center St.

Oak Point is an over-55 community located off Route 105.  

The Art Association members who will be displaying their artwork are Judy Bettencourt, John Crutchfield, Sue Dalton, Sheila DiIulis, Gail Dowd, Greg Gale, Loretta Haynes, Jan Johnson, Bunny McLaughlin, Jeanne Norton, Stephen Nourse, Phyllis Vincent, Cheryle Ward and Bob Weikel. Their works will include paintings in watercolor, acrylics, pen and ink, oil, scratchboard, pastel, mixed media and photography with a wide variety of subject matter.  

"Our members are excited to support this event and the efforts being made by the town to bring in more businesses and to encourage people to shop local,’’ said Dottie Weikel, president of the art association. “Pastor David Ferrari of the Bridge Church has been very supportive of our bringing the Art Show to his Church in support of the Windows Alive event.’’

First Friday will not only have the various businesses open and a Meet and Greet at the Bridge Church but included with the Art Show will be The Standard Deviants, a jazz group, performing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening and on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
