Early childhood support awarded to institute serving Lakeville, Middleboro
An organization that provides early childhood mental health services to Lakeville and Middleboro is part of a nearly $1 million grant recently received through the office of Gov. Maura Healey.
Justice Resource Institute was awarded $906,447 to help early education and care programs access specialized consultation to better support children's social-emotional development, promote school readiness, strengthen classroom environments and connect families with additional services when needed, according to information provided by Healey’s office.
The institute serves nearly 70 area communities.
The institute will work with programs to implement trauma-informed policies and practices, strengthen educators' ability to identify and respond to behavioral, developmental, and mental health needs, and implement evidence-based positive behavior supports, according to information provided by the administration.
They will also help programs build stronger partnerships with families through individualized behavior support plans, referrals to community-based services, and strategies that support children's success both in the classroom and at home.
